Overview of C-RECS
C-RECS is working on dramatically increasing the roles, responsibilities, influence and authority of persons in recovery (PIR) and establishing a consumer-driven initiative to promote consumer employment and behavioral health system transformation.
The goals of C-RECS are:
- Increasing employment of PIR from diverse cultural backgrounds at all levels of the behavioral health workforce;
- Enhancing the capacity of provider organizations to attain/sustain a workforce that includes PIR; and
- Fostering cultural and staff attitude change in employer organizations, leading to increased support and sustained employment of PIR in the workforce.
The objectives of C-RECS are:
- Creating and managing a recruitment and placement service that includes an on-line job bank
- Providing support to PIR to facilitate and sustain their roles in the behavioral health workforce
Offering consultation and technical assistance to behavioral health provider agencies to increase overall organizational receptivity and capacity to integrate PIR into their workforce;
- To focus exclusively on employment in the behavioral health workforce;
- Assisting PIR in preparation for workforce employment;
- Enhancing recruitment by provider agencies;
- Offering post-hire employment training and support to PIR;
- Developing and promoting initiatives to retain PIR in the behavioral health workforce;
- Offering organizational consultation and technical assistance to promote culture change to sustain consumer employment; and
- Assessment of the impact of these interventions.
